Teen Pregnancy is the leading reason why teen moms drop out of high school.
3 out of 10 teen girls will get pregnant at least once before the age of 20.
8 out of 10 teen fathers never marry the mother of their children.

The mission of the Polk Youth Leadership Team (YLT) is to educate and promote teen pregnancy prevention efforts in Polk County through the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Alliance (TPPA). YLT members care for the health, well-being and safety of themselves, peers, family and community. YLT members strive to be leaders in our community today, tomorrow and years to come.

The POLK Youth Leadership Team is a group that consist of teens ages 10-19 who reside in Polk County and who want a better future for themselves, their peers and community. Members of YLT are advocates for teen pregnancy prevention as well as healthy choices.

Youth commit to giving back to the community through community service, awareness activities, and advocating for teen issues. Monthly meetings and activities help guide and educate teens on future steps to take in becoming leaders for tomorrow.
